Real climate solutions for the real world.
I'm Rohan Agarwal, founder of Blue Leaf Labs. Having spent time both at the discussion table and in the lab, I've come to realize that we NEED technological solutions to fight the biggest environmental problems. Like, sure, the picket line is important, but so is clean energy, fresh water, and a heat solution that finally prevents the most vulnerable from suffering! I build and model systems that use science to fight science and then mosey over to the picket line to promote those systems before finally teaching the next generation my (not so secret) methods in my Watt Workshops classes.
Research
Open investigations with real methods, data, and code, checkable end to end.
Physics-based modeling and experimental prototyping of osmotic power and desalination energy recovery, translating membrane-scale performance into system-level feasibility.
Environmental risk and equity modeling integrating temperature, air quality, wildfire smoke, and census data to identify double-burden communities under extreme heat.
Hydroclimate anomaly detection and regime analysis using multi-source observational datasets to distinguish transient weather shocks from persistent climate shifts.
Quantum-inspired models for analyzing and comparing vocal performance by encoding musical features related to pitch, dynamics, and timbre.
Watt Workshops
Hands-on environmental engineering, taught in small cohorts.
How I work
My key principles
Reproducible workflows
Run-from-scratch pipelines with pinned data sources.
Transparent assumptions
Documented indices, thresholds, and hyperparameters used in analysis and modeling.
Traceable sources
Explicit dataset versions and preprocessing steps.
Bring the work to your students or your stage.
